So my wife has been back for less than 24 hours from the hospital and it's been quite crazy. She's had surgeries before where she's supposed to rest but really doesn't. She'll get up and do things and try to help out. But this time, she is knocked on her butt. She is hardly mobile and takes everything inside of her to get to the bathroom. Needless to say, I've done a lot extra. Now I don't mind helping her out and doing the things she might otherwise do. I do dishes and laundry to help out and have been known to grab a vacuum cleaner and run it around the house (usually chasing Tyler and Tanner).
So I got to think, now that Tyler & Tanner are sleeping and Ashleigh is at school, how easy it must have been for those back in the early days (David, Solomon, etc.) and also in more recent history to have 3 or 5 wives or something. This is not to get into the hormones and intercourse crap, but the straight functionality of a home. With Selina down, my life is upside down. Now, if I had a few wives, I wouldn't feel the brunt of this. The work could easily be shared among the other women who were still functional and life would be great (again, hormones aside). So, even though I'm strictly against polygamy (and especially against that sicko from Colorado City...isn't he dead now?), maybe the functionality of it may not be so bad! I guess in modern terms they call that a maid. Mom, where are you?
Case in point, while typing this up, I forgot about the water I was boiling to make jello!
(This is Becky)...maybe when you go to work next week you should take the boys to a babysitter, or pay someone to come in and help with the kids so Selina doesn't have to get up (since there doesn't seem to be anyone in the family who can help next week). I've always thought that polygamy would be nice so that the work would be split up (but, that's the only reason!). Maybe it's good that Selina is "knocked on her butt" so that she'll actually REST!!!!! Poor girl. )o:
